Monkey See...Monkey Do

Monkey see...Monkey do. That has been one of the oldest sayings I could remember since I was a little girl.

When I was growing up, my family members always used to say this to me all the time..."Monkey see...Monkey do."  All because I used to try to copy everything everyone did.  One time I cut my own bangs at the age of  seven, just because across the street from our apartment was a beauty shop and I would spend hours staring at the salon through our apartment window.  Everyday after school I would run home so I could watch the hairdressers across the street cut and set their clients hair in many hairstyles. I knew then at such an early age that that's what I wanted to do when I grew up.

I remember so vividly the countless hours I would spend looking out our front window mesmerized at the work they did. And as a curious child I did the same thing one day. Iwent into my bedroom, closed the door and I cut my own bangs from left to right in a real pretty road map design....YOU GET THE PICTURE RIGHT????  HEE...HEE.

I wish you could of seen my mother's face when I came out of the bedroom with scissors in one hand and my hair in the other....and I came out with such a happy face saying..."look Mom, I can cut hair just like the lady across the street does." Mom didn't spank me but she did remove me from that window...just for a little while.

I did fulfill my dream...I became a hairdresser and I did cut lots of hair for 32 years. Its funny now my mother can't wait for me to get my scissors in her hair....even though she yelled at me for cutting my own bangs then...She is my no. 1 client when she is here visiting....hee...hee!

But to make a long story short, it goes to show you that children do learn from what they see. Children are our little audiences throughout their rising years. What we do, what we say and how we do it creates their character and who they will become in the future. Our character is the core and the uniqueness of where we come from. By teaching them through example, displaying properly who we are, acting and talking in a righteous manner will build up the right character in our children's lives. They are our future generation....treat them well and be a great example to them and love them unconditionally.

If Children Live With ...Criticism...they learn to condemn.

If childre live with Hostility...they learn to fight.

If children live with Ridicule...they learn to be shy.

If children live with Shame...they learn to feel guilty.

If children live with Tolerance...they learn to be patient.

If children live with Encouragement...they learn confidence.

If children live with Praise...they learn to appreciate.

If children live with Fairness...they learn justice.

If children live with Security...they learn to have faith.

If children live with Approval...they learn to like themselves.

If children live with Acceptance and Friendship...they learn to find LOVE in the world.
